Tsunami Shijo (紫擾 津那美, Shijō Tsunami[1]) is a Private Detective who specializes in demon extermination. He was granted full authority by the Wakimi family for this speciality. He has the ability to detonate a spark and freely manipulate flames.

Tsunami is very tall, with a slender built body. His notable traits are his long pure white hair, pale skin, blue eyes, and feminine features. His appearance is that of his late teens or early 20's. He is usually seen wearing black clothes, such as trench coats, gloves, pants, and shirt, along with some red lipstick and black nail polish. Though on some instances he will wear normal a plain button-up shirt[8], a suit with a tie or a yukata with tabi socks[9]. His hairstyle varies from being tied back in a low ponytail or just being left loose.
There are notable differences with his hair between Kaen Majin - Satin the Peerage and in Twilight of the Dark Master. In the former his hair shows a lot more short hairs while being tied in a low pony tail, with some straight bangs across his brow. While in the latter his hair is notably more even, and his bangs not as straight. His hair was also longer, so it can be assumed he got a haircut to shorten it at some point. In Onibarai his hair is just at his shoulders.
In junior high school, Tsunami had short black hair and wore a school uniform that consisted of slacks, a white button-up shirt, a jacket and a tie[10]. Later he is seen wearing a black gakuran uniform after changing schools.
When he's an old man his hair is longer and slicked back into a low ponytail. And wearing much more casual Japanese clothing that are light in color.

Personality[]
Tsunami is known for having a calm personality and speaking in soft tones. He rarely yells and only does so when necessary. While the movie gives the impression that he hardly shows any emotion. He does in fact show his emotions, such as when he is frustrated or angry. However, these are usually done with minimal actions. Even moments of annoyance are generally shown with facial expressions and minimal vocal complaints. He's more likely to respond with smirks and arrogantly when warranted. He is also not above using whatever means necessary to defend himself. Such as when he kicked Kudo's lackey in the groin.
However, he does enjoy joking around and has a playful side to him. Especially with his interactions with his secretary[11]. He has no problem cracking jokes even when he's single-handedly fighting a group sent to deal with him. When an entire building was destroyed in an attempt to kill him, he stood up with no seen injuries, and worried about being scolded about his coat being ruined by Reiko[12].
History[]
Childhood[]
Tsunami grew up in Tokyo, Japan with his mother. He was bullied frequently by his classmates, who would only stop due to the fact he wouldn't fight back, which would bore them, and often came home with injuries. When he gets home in the afternoon after a test he finds Takamiya alongside his mother, who had been strangled to death in her bedroom. Takamiya casually talks to him, telling him his mother was a stupid woman who was likely glad she was able to help her son with her death. And that he cannot go into society being weak before asking Tsunami what he is going to do. His hair turns white as he stands there in silence, with Takamiya asking if he was trying to be fashionable after seeing this. Shortly after, the apartment explodes in flames. Burning both Takamiya and his mother's body with in it. With Tsunami standing as he was while thinking everything should melt into nothing, himself and the world painted white.
He didn't know what to do as he didn't have any relatives and he didn't even know them even if he did. The police who were investigating the incident did not find his body and assumed him to be dead where his remains were not found after 6 months of searching. Or that he must have found an adult to help him. When his powers first emerged he didn't understand how it occurred and received help from Ayanosuke Wakimi. Who also helped him to transfer to a new school to continue his education, telling him he would get used to his powers and body, while telling him to be careful of getting any external injuries.
Relationships[]
Ms. Tougen[]
She is Tsunami's mother. Her relationship with her son could be assumed to have been a good one as Tsunami strives to do things he feels his mother would approve of despite her passing. In the small instance in the manga where she has a role, she tells Takamiya in a joking manner she thinks he should help Tsunami be a man to get a little stronger. She is killed by Takamiya. And her body goes missing even after Tsunami had burned the entirety of their home down.
Takamiya[]
Was in a relationship with Tsunami's mother. He has known Tsunami for years, even when he was younger. And even asked his mother if he was still being bullied after realizing someone was in the house while he and Ms. Tougen were getting intimate. It is unknown how Tsunami felt about him at first, but after Takamiya strangles his mother to death. Tsunami's hair changes to white as he looks on his mother's body, and releases his power for the first time. Creating a large fire that burns the house down, to an attempt to kill Takamiya for revenge for his mother.
Ayanosuke Wakimi[]
As a member of the Wakimi clan who are Onmyoji, Ayanosuke will lend Tsunami his assistance and tools when needed for demon extermination. He also drives him around when needed. And they usually go out to eat together on more than one occasion. He's known Tsunami for a long time to the point that he's aware that no one can stop Tsunami from eating massive amounts of white rice. He's also highly attracted to Tsunami's beauty, much to his annoyance at times. How they met isn't clear. But after the fire, and inspection from the police on the incident it seems Ayanosuke has taken over with Tsunami's care. Telling him to be careful of any injuries.
Kurumi Shingon[]
Tsunami's secretary and daughter in Kaen Majin - Satin the Peerage. They have a close relationship. She calls him "papa" in private. It is actually not made clear if she is actually his biological daughter, or if he adopted her. She helps him with cases by looking up information, taking messages, or even helping to protect clients. Like Tsunami, she is not human, as even when he is an old man she herself is still alive as an old woman who has gone deaf.

Tenku[]
A Chinese man who collaborates with Tsunami on investigations. He's known Tsunami for a while and enjoys working with him. He sometimes brings him coffee when meeting up with him to tell him what information he has found.
Elle (Ernestine)[]
A female vampire who drinks Tsunami's blood once a week in Kaen Majin - Onibarai. She sleeps in Tsunami's closet in his small apartment. And scolds him for not eating meat at a tonkatsu restaurant when he constantly orders refills on white rice because they were free.

Trivia[]
- Tsunami is ironically named as he's a fire demon/spirit with a water name.
- The "Tsuna" in his name comes from "Watanabe no Tsuna".
- He may be a descendant of Genji[2].
- Due to the color of his hair, he is often mistaken for being a foreigner.
- He is sometimes mistaken for being a woman because of how beautiful and feminine his appearance is.
- He knows some English, but how fluent he is is not made clear.
- He has had mommy issues since before his mother's passing. He still has these issues even as far as the Twilight of the Dark Master Manga.
- In Onibarai, Tsunami ate 7 bowls of white rice at a tonkatsu restaurant. He refused to eat meat because he didn't want to not have room for rice. Ayanosuke explains to Elle that nothing will stop Tsunami for eating multiple portions of white rice[6].
- Ayanosuke forgot that Tsunami hates ooba after ordering them food with it at a small restaurant. The end result was Tsunami burning the place to the ground as he tried to essentially "kill it" with fire.
- Contrary to the Anime, Tsunami cannot drive. Usually someone, such as Ayanosuke or a butler, will drive him places, or he will ask for a ride from someone he knows such as a police officer. It has never been stated why he is unable to drive. Either he doesn't know how. Or he simply doesn't due to not having a driver's license. And wouldn't be able to obtain one.
- He's very self-sufficient due to having to care for himself from when he was still in junior high school after his mother was killed by Takamiya.
- Based on the timeline, Twilight of the Dark Master takes place in 2019, which takes place about 30 years later from Kaen Majin - Satin the Peerage, where Tsunami states he's 81 years old. That would put his birth year at around 1908.
- "Satin the Peerage" is a mistype, and was corrected to "Satan the Peerage" when Twilight of the Dark Master was released.
