Hammerspace is a fan-invented term used to describe a "extra-dimensional storage area which can be accessed instantly." The term is jokingly used to describe where female characters in manga and anime get their weapons (eg. mallets), since they seemingly pull items, usually hammers or mallets, out of nowhere in order to bash a male's head. In an interesting twist, Mousse, a male character from Ranma ½, also seems to have access to hammerspace.
