Not to be confused with Free!, an unrelated anime series with an identical name.

Free! is a Japanese four-panel manga by GAN.[1] The manga was first guest published in the December 2010 issue of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Max magazine, and then started as a series from October 2011 issue.[2] The series underwent a hiatus temporarily after June 2013[3] though publication has continued as free email to readers during the hiatus. Some speculated that the manga was forced into hiatus when Kyoto Animation announced their own anime that coincidentally had exactly the same title (see Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club).[4][5] The plot of the manga concerns four high school girls: quirky free spirit Atli, common sense Misaki, tsundere Kiska, and long-suffering Tomoe.
