Boyfriend (ボーイフレンド Bōifurendo?) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fuyumi Soryo. Boyfriend manga received the 1988 Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo manga.[1] In 2008, the manga was posted on the Yahoo! Comic Japan website, for free browsing, to celebrate Shogakukan's Shōjo Comic's 40th anniversary.[2] The manga focuses on Masaki, a delinquent and former basketball star, and Kanako, a girl with an heart condition that forces her to repeat two years of school, as they develop a relationship.
