It was serialized in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine from May 2010 to January 2012 and compiled into five tankōbon volumes. The story follows Sayoko, a mysterious girl with a cursed connection to the moon, and her protector Yoshiyuki as they navigate a world of supernatural dangers.

Plot[]

Sayoko, a girl cursed to transform into a monstrous form under the light of the full moon, seeks a way to break her curse while evading those who would exploit her powers. Accompanied by Yoshiyuki, a wandering swordsman sworn to protect her, the duo encounters enemies and allies in a journey that tests their resolve, reveals hidden truths, and explores the burdens of destiny and companionship.

Production[]

Blade of the Moon Princess represents Tatsuya Endo's continued experimentation with blending action and emotional storytelling. While relatively short, the series demonstrated his growing skill in crafting compelling characters and unique narratives, foreshadowing his later success with Spy × Family.

Reception[]

The manga was praised for its visually striking art and imaginative premise. Readers appreciated the dynamic relationship between Sayoko and Yoshiyuki, as well as the exploration of themes such as loyalty and identity. However, some felt the series' short run limited its potential to fully explore its world and characters.
