Ranma 1/2 is a popular anime created by Rumiko Takahashi.

Anime (アニメ; sometimes animé) is Japanese animation which is drawn in the style of manga. The first popular and genre-definining anime was Osamu Tezuka's 1963 Astro Boy, a takeoff from the manga Tetsuwan Atom. Anime, however, only became a mainstream, booming business in the 1980s.

Anime borrows some of its characteristics from the manga-style of drawing; for example, anime characters are often kawaii with huge, saucer-like eyes and colourful hair. Other anime may take a dark role, featuring shady, evil characters. The perfect women of shonen-manga are also present in many anime today as well.

Anime is of dubbed from Japanese to English and made available in North America and Europe. Some fans of anime even produce their own fansubs (though these are often illegal)
